The Study of emission factor for an electricity system in Thailand 2009

 

From the previous circumstances, many Thai CDM projects were renewable energy project which generating electricity connected to grid as substitution power supply. The renewable energy sources supply substitution power can help Thailand reduce the emission from the normal usage of fossil fuel in electricity generation.

 

Nevertheless, CDM project developers used different “Grid Emission Factor” for calculating the emission baseline. The different factor can cause different baseline and different in reduction amount of the projects. Thus TGO had conducted this study to make a standardized “Grid Emission Factor” for CDM project developer use as reference factor in their baseline calculation.

 

Development of Grid Emission Factor

 

Thai Grid Emission Factor was calculated by using Annex 14 Methodological Tool (Version 02) "Tool to calculate the emission factor for an electricity system" which approved by CDM-EB at 16th October 2009 (EB 50). This methodology is consisted of the parameters as following table.

Grid Emission Factor from this study can be used in the CDM projects which involved in supply electricity power to Thailand power grid.
