CITC organized the UNFCCC COP 22 side event on “Capacity Building on Climate Change in Southeast Asian Countries: Needs and Lessons Learned”

On 16 November 2016, Climate Change International Technical and Training Center (CITC) organized the COP 22 side event on “Capacity Building on Climate Change in Southeast Asian Countries: Needs and Lessons Learned” at Thailand Pavilion, Marrakech, Morocco.

In this side event, we focused and discussed about the importance of capacity building as a key driving force for climate change actions as well as needs and roles of capacity development in implementation of climate change policies, plans and actions. The topics include;

  1. Country-driven capacity building activities/experiences related to climate change in Southeast Asia countries
  2. Difficulties, limitations and needs for climate change actions, especially focusing on practical capacity building activities for real actions
  3. How to foster and accelerate climate change actions through capacity building

On the discussion session, the panelists from ASEAN countries (Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand) had shared their implementation related to climate change as well as capacity needs in their countries. The representative from Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, Dr. Natarika Wayuparb Nitiphon, Deputy Executive Director, also presented on the capacity building activity in ASEAN countries through CITC and  Dr. Jakkanit Kananurak, Director of CITC was a moderator of the event There were more than 50 participants joined the event.
