CITC Organized “Regional Workshop For Capacity Development On Low Carbon And Resilient Society In Southeast Asian Countries”

CITC by TGO and JICA organized a “Regional Workshop for Capacity Development on Low Carbon and Resilient Society in Southeast Asian Countries” during 22nd – 24th June 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand by receiving the honor from General Ekachai Chansri, Advisor to the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand and Mr.Hiroyuki Okajima, Minister - Counsellor, Embassy of Japan in Thailand to deliver opening speeches.
The objectives of the workshop are to;

1. Exchange information on current status and further steps towards LCRS development, climate change mitigation and adaptation actions in the Southeast Asian region

2. Identify training needs and share capacity development resources on LCRS development among relevant institutions in the Southeast Asian region

3. Initiate networking among climate change related institutions in the ASEAN

The workshop composes of panel discussion on capacity development as a key success factor to achieve Low Carbon and Resilient Society, realizing city-level mitigation actions and national and local strategies and way forward for climate resilient society in the Southeast Asian region. In addition, capacity development needs assessment of the CITC training courses on Low Carbon and Resilient Society Development and Mitigation Mechanism for Southeast Asian countries also were conducted. Lastly, the site visit on Sufficiency Economy and Sustainable Development at the Royal Nature Conservation Center, Nakornnayok was organized.

There were more 117 participants from ASEAN Secretariat, focal points, cities and academia from Thailand and ASEAN member countries joined the event.
