World Expo Shanghai China 2010

Global Environment Facility participate in the World Expo in Shanghai from May 1 to October 31, 2010.

The GEF will join more than 200 countries and international organizations to participate in the world's largest exposition, expected to be visited by 70 million people. The theme of the Shanghai Expo is "Better City, Better Life." The GEF will contribute to the greening of the Expo by showcasing six fuel-cell buses (FCBs) that have been funded under Phase II of the China FCB Demonstration Project approved by Council in GEF-3. They will serve as environmentally friendly shuttle buses to transport domestic and international dignitaries and visitors. With the support of the GEF, China has become the first developing country in the world that has successfully demonstrated commercial operation of FCBs, first in Beijing and now in Shanghai.

Celebrating Crown Standard's Recognition by Gold Standard

In commemoration of His Majesty the King's 82nd Birthday on December 5, 2009, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) (TGO) launches its own Crown Standard for Thai CDM Projects. According to the national policy of the Royal Thai Government, CDM is applied as a tool not only to reduce GHG but also to protect and clean up the environment as well as contribute to society. The process of issuing the Letter of Approval (LoA) for CDM projects in Thailand has received much attention due to its sustainable development requirements. The TGO Board has approved the criteria to distinguish high quality CDM projects from others by awarding the new "Crown Standard".
