CoolMode Press Release
Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization)
On June 3rd 2009 at the Parliament House, Mr. Suwit Khunkitti, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, gave the CoolMode suit to Prime Minister Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5th.
The CoolMode label is a product that helps to decrease greenhouse gas emissions from the use of air conditioning, because by wearing CoolMode clothes, you can increase the temperature higher than 25 Celsius, as the material is special-made to absorb sweat and is good for heat ventilation, and is also comfortable to wear. In order for clothing to obtain a CoolMode label, it must pass a qualification test: 1) Safety for the use of chemicals to color clothes; 2) Quality and durability; 3) Heat reduction characteristics. At the moment, there is only one producer which qualifies for the CoolMode logo, People’s Garment Public Company Limited.
Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization: TGO) in collaboration with Thailand Textile Institute (THTI), would like to invite all garment producers to join the project to develop CoolMode clothing. We can all take part in the effort to save energy and money by simply increasing the temperature of air conditioning in our buildings higher than 25 Celsius. And by so doing, we can reduce 3 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year (3 MtCO2e/y) in greenhouse gases, and save up to 15,000 million Baht annually.
