E-mail Print PDF

As for Thailand, the priority types of CDM projects include those in the following sectors:

  • Energy sector, which includes energy production and energy efficiency improvement projects, such as: fuel switching, conversion of industrial waste to energy, improvement of cooling system effectiveness, and improvement of energy efficiency in buildings.
  • Environment sector, e.g. production of heat and electricity from municipal solid waste and wastewater treatment for energy production.
  • Transport sector, e.g. improvement of fuel efficiency and demand side management.
  • Industrial sector, e.g. emission reductions from manufacturing process.

CDM project activities other than those stated above are also welcomed, however, they are subject to consideration by the TGO Executive Board.

To evaluate CDM project candidates for the issuance of a Letter of Approval (LoA), TGO has established “Sustainable Development Criteria” for screening, evaluating and approving CDM projects in Thailand. With respect to the criteria, there are four major groups of sustainable development indicators: (1) Natural resources and environment indicators; (2) Social indicators; (3) Development and/or technology transfer indicators; and (4) Economic indicators.
