MNRE and TGO in collaboration with UNDP and DLA Jointly Organized the Online Seminar on Sustainable and Livable City

               21-22 June 2021, Bangkok. Thailand Greenhouse Gas Organization Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), Department of Local Administration (DLA), Global Environment Facility (GEF) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Thailand jointly organized the online seminar on “Sustainable & Livable Low-carbon Cities” on 21-22 June 2021. The seminar presented the results, progress, and achievements of climate action at the city level together with lessons learned from the GEF funded 4-year project on the Achieving Low Carbon Growth in Cities through Sustainable Urban Systems Management in Thailand. The seminar extended to cover various topics related to climate action such as circular economy, the new normal lifestyle, livable city design, the power of youth, and Thai municipalities and climate ambition.
               Keynote speeches were delivered by Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa: Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Renaud Meyer: UNDP Resident Representative to Thailand, Mr. Prayoon Rattanasene: Director General of Department of Local Administration and Mr. Kiatchai Maitriwong: Executive Director, TGO. The speeches highlighted importance of climate change and its impacts and called for continued collective action to achieve climate actions at cities and the whole nation through participatory approaches.
