On January 12, 2022, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kanchanaburi Province and Phrae Province to implement the “Development of Provincial Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Guideline Project”, and with Khon Kaen Province and Krabi Province to implement the “Urban climate action: Pilot projects under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement in Indonesia & Thailand” at Amari Don Muang Airport Hotel, Bangkok. The MOU ceremony was honorably presided by Mr. Suttipong Juljarern, the Permanent Secretary for the Interior, and Mr. Kiatchai Maitriwong, Executive Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization was delivered the welcome speech, objective, and project background.
Later on, Mr. Kiatchai Maitriwong, Executive Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mr. Phutthiphong Sirimat, Governor of Krabi Province, Mr. Somsak Jungtraku, Governor of Khon Kaen Province, Mr. Somwang Boonrayong, Deputy Governor of Kanchanaburi Province, and Mr. Rattapon Naradisorn, Deputy Governor of Phrae Province. Mr. Suttipong Juljarern was witnessed in the ceremony to encourage the province to participate in the greenhouse gas reduction activities, helping Thailand achieve GHG reduction target and to be a role model for other provinces to develop province toward sustainable low-carbon city.
In the event, there were exhibition on the results of the “Development of Provincial Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Guideline Project” implemented last year. There were 37 executives and staffs from Ministry of Interior, TGO, provinces and reporters participated in the ceremony.
