Chonburi: On 18th of December, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in collaboration with Science and Technology Research Institute, Chiang Mai University, organized the opening ceremony for the project on “Circular Economy for Low Carbon Industrial Development in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) area” aiming to develop a circular economy model for the industries in the EEC area (CE-EEC Model). In this regard, it will enhance competitiveness of the industries by reducing risks of raw material shortages, production costs, waste, and consumption of natural resources as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, the developed model should be able to implement in other industrial areas to support sustainable and low-carbon circular economy industries. The opening ceremony was honorably presided by Mr. Kiatchai Maitriwong, Executive Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization.
This events also provided information related to circular economy concept, as a new alternative for sustainable business, as well as method for assessing greenhouse gas reduction from circular economy activities, low-carbon technologies of the industries in the EEC area, low carbon industry assessment criteria, and the use of the GHG Mitigation Information Platform. Over 85 participants from government agencies and industrial sectors participated in the event, which was organized at Centra by Centara Maris Resort Jomtien, Chonburi.
