TGO in collaboration with CMU drive industries in EEC to implement a circular economy concept and assess Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction potential aiming for achievement of low carbon and sustainable industries.

         On June 13, 2022, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO in collaboration with Chiang Mai University (CMU) organized a conference “Public hearing and information exchanging on the implementation of the circular economy concept and assessment of the Greenhouse Gas reduction potential of the industrial sectors” under “Developing Low Carbon and Circular Economy Model for Industry in Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Area”. The opening ceremony was honorably presided by Mr. Kiatchai Maitriwong, Executive Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization. The conference participated by executives and staff from TGO, CMU and industries in the EEC and relevant agencies was organized at Pullman Pattaya Hotel G, Chonburi Province and via a video conferencing system.

         This conference was held for public hearing and information exchange from relevant governmental and private agencies. The outcome will be analyzed, developed and applied for development of the circular economy model in the EEC area (CE-EEC Model) which will enhance the competitiveness of industries in the EEC by reducing the risks from raw material shortages and reducing costs in the production sector, reducing wastes, reducing natural resources consumption including reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions and expanding the implementation to other districts/industrial estates across the country. As a result, drive Thailand to achieve the goal of Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero Emission with the aiming for low carbon and sustainable industries.

          The conference included the Introduction of the Low Carbon Industry Development Project in the EEC by Mr.Chessada Sakulku, TGO Director of Low Carbon City and Society Office, exchanging of information on the implementation of the circular economy concept. And assessment of the Greenhouse Gas reduction potential of the industry by experts from CMU as well as, an open forum for public hearing from the participants on the implementation aspects of the circular economy and Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction.
