TGO in cooperation with Rayong Province, Surin Province and Chonburi Province develop provincial Greenhouse Gas reduction measures.

               In May 2021, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO in cooperation with Rayong Province, Surin Province and Chonburi Province organized the 2nd meetings with the Provincial working Groups on the Development of Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction guideline. The objectives of the meetings were to present the provincial Greenhouse Gas inventory in 2019 (base year), the forecast of provincial Greenhouse Gas emissions during 2021-2030, including mitigation measures in accordance with the provincial context. The working groups approved and selected some measures to develop detailed mitigation action plan. 

               On 12th May 2021, Lieutenant Pirun Haemarak, Deputy Governor of Rayong Province honorably presided as the chairman of the 2nd meeting of the Rayong Working Group on the development of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Guideline. The meeting was organized at the Phakdee Si Songkhram meeting room, Rayong City Hall with 34 participants in the meeting. The Working Group acknowledged the provincial Greenhouse Gas inventory and its forecasted emissions in the next 10 year. They approved 26 mitigation measures of Rayong Province and selected 3 Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction measures to further develop detailed action plan for promoting energy efficiency in the industrial sector, the business sector and the household sector. The Working Group set the emission reduction target at 10% by the year 2030 based on Rayong mitigation potential which accounted for 2,473,178 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2eq).

               On 17th May 2021, Mr. Narathorn Sornprasit, Deputy Governor of Surin Province honorably presided as the chairman of the 2nd meeting of the Surin Working Group on the development of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Guideline. There are 30 participants from Surin working group participated in the meeting at Surin City Hall and TGO joined the meeting online via Cisco Jabber system. The working group acknowledged the provincial Greenhouse Gas inventory and its forecasted emissions in the next 10 year The working Group approved 28 mitigation measures of Surin Province and selected one Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction measure, promoting good agricultural practice, to develop detailed action plan. Surin’s Greenhouse Gas reduction target by the year 2030 is set at 13.24 percent which accounted for 509,494 tCO2eq, based on the provincial’s mitigation potential.

               On 19th May 2021, Mr. Wiwat Mahapholsirikul, Deputy Governor of Chonburi Province honorably presided as the chairman of the 2nd meeting of the Chonburi Working Group on the development of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Guideline. There are 36 members from Chonburi working group participated the meeting online via Cisco WebEx system and TGO joined the meeting at Chonburi’s Natural Resources and Environment Office. The Working Group acknowledged Chonburi’s Greenhouse Gas inventory and it’s forecasted emissions. They also approved 27 mitigation measures and selected one Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction measure, promoting energy efficiency in the industrial sector, to develop detailed action plan. The provincial Greenhouse Gas reduction target is set at 16% by the year 2030, which accounted for 4,975,007 tCO2eq.

               After the meetings, TGO will finalized all findings and adjust mitigation measures as recommended by the Working Groups, as well as prepare provincial Greenhouse Gas reduction action plans to present to the Working Groups in July 2021.
