Bangkok (February 22, 2022): Mr Kiatchai Mitriwong, the TGO executive director and Assoc. Prof. Rattanawan Mungkung, the director of the centre of excellence on environmental strategy for GREEN business (VGREEN) signed an MoU for cooperation in promoting the carbon offset program to support the voluntary carbon market in the country with 5 organizations from the service sector, including, Sansiri Public Company Limited, Nexpoint Public Company Limited, Thonburi Healthcare Group Public Company Limited, NPC Safety and Environmental Service Co., Ltd. and Principal Capital Public Company Limited. This is aimed to enable the integration and application of the carbon footprint of organization and carbon offset technical approaches as well as the implementation of corporate greenhouse gas emissions reduction activities and measures within their declared commitment to corporate social responsibility and the environment.  This effort will demonstrate a role model for other organizations. Apart from that, the event has also provided the partner organizations relevant knowledge and information through various presentations about the TCOP implementation and practice, the carbon footprint assessment and carbon-neutral approach for organizations, meetings, seminars, and events based on relevant standard guidelines as well as access the workshop and case studies for the service sector and conferences, seminars and events by VGREEN researchers.  In this event, the presentation on "an overview of the ESG upgrading with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)'s one report and greenhouse gas sustainability disclosures and the Carbon offset guidelines toward carbon neutrality" has also been contributed by the Director of Carbon Market and Innovation Promotion Office of TGO.

           Reaching the 9^th year of the TCOP program, TGO has promoted the carbon offsetting activities and a certification system for entrepreneurs’ industry, business, and government sectors to join this project and support the greenhouse gas reduction project development and greenhouse gas reduction activities in Thailand through purchasing carbon credits for their compensation and encourage an increase of greenhouse gas reduction projects development that can contribute to the country's greenhouse gas emissions reduction and could be an effective approach attained to achieve the country's Carbon Neutrality and Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Emission target.
