Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, in collaboration with partner networks, organized “Low Carbon Contest: Vlog-the Journey Season II”

Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, in collaboration with partner networks, organized “Low Carbon Contest: Vlog-the Journey Season II” to encourage young generations Vlogger produce the travelling VLOG in “Low Carbon and New Normal” style and join the contest. The prizes are worth 200,000 Baht in total. online

The prizes are worth 200,000 Baht in total.

               On 13th May 2021, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO collaborated with Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to hold an online press conference of “Low Carbon Contest: Vlog-the Journey Season II.” This activity aims to raise understanding and awareness of Low Carbon Tourism through use VLOG. This activity has been organized for two years consecutive. Mr. Kiatchai Maitriwong, the Executive Director of TGO, and Mr. Chessada Sakulku, Director of Information Technology and Corporate Communication Office, explained about the rules and conditions of this contest through live streaming on the TGO Facebook Fan Page (https://www.facebook.com/tgo.or.th).

               Mr. Kiatchai Maitirwong, the Executive Director of TGO had stated that;

               “We want to build a collaboration to everyone so that we create this contest activity “Low Carbon Contest: Vlog-the Journey”. It allows young generations, students, and everyone to present their travelling style as video format called VLOG. The VLOG can tell what the interesting of low carbon travelling. It is not cumbersome to travel in low carbon ways. Everyone can do and enjoy, you can start from planning, choosing the mode of travel, the activities you do during the trip such as energy saving, and waste management as well as choosing the tourist attractions such as communities that contribute to reduce Greenhouse Gas emission.”

               In terms of rules and conditions of the contest, Mr Chessada Sakulku, the Director of Information Technology and Corporate Communication Office has stated that;

               “We have improved from season I by dividing the contest categories into two groups which are student, and  general public category. The contest will be fun and associates to both targeted groups. Moreover, solo or group travelers can join this activity with the maximum of 5 people in a team. If you apply as students, all the team members must be students.”

               There are three awards for the Student category and the general public category

the Student category:

  • 1st place Prize money 40,000 baht
  • 2nd place Prize money 20,000 baht
  • 3rd place Prize money 10,000 baht with Certificates

general public category:

  • 1st place Prize money 70,000 baht
  • 2nd place Prize money 35,000 baht
  • 3rd place Prize money 25,000 baht with Certificates

               “Every team must create Vlog by themselves and the VLOG contents must be only in country travelling, that means overseas travelling is not allowed in this contest. The VLOGer or the video presenter in the VLOG must be a team member. The VLOG clip length should around 5 – 20 minutes.”

               In addition, the criteria of judgement also include the activities that reduce the carbon emission such as transport planning, support locally grown foods or seasonal cuisine, and tourist attractions.                TGO understands and is aware of the limitation of travelling due the COVID-19 pandemic. We wish for the better situation and the socio-economics recovery soon. The outcome from this activity can be the media for tourism industry to get sustainable recovery, be environmentally friendly, and reduce the greenhouse gas under the concept of “Low Carbon.” Also, Mr Kiatchai Maitriwong has stated that;

               “COVID-19 can be one condition for the contestants to create Vlog about their hometown in order to avoid travelling to other provinces. Moreover, the tourist communities might join the activity by creating Vlog that introduces themselves.”

               “Global warming and climate change are like serious illnesses. They severely affect to all living things on earth. We might not have seen their severity like the COVID-19 pandemic that the death and infected cases are reported daily. However, if we do not change our behaviors today, we will encounter more serious situations that we do today. There is not any vaccine to help us except we change our behaviors and life style to go for low carbon society.”
