Webinar on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Implementation in Thailand - Utilizing the JCM during the COVID -19 Period

17 Sep 2020

Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, Ministry of the Environment of Japan and Global Environment Centre Foundation, Japan co-organized a webinar on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Implementation in Thailand - Utilizing the JCM during the COVID-19 Period on 25 August 2020. The Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) is a mechanism jointly created and implemented under an agreement between Thailand and the Government of Japan. Under JCM, Thai project participants receive financial support from the Government of Japan to implement low-carbon technologies and allocate some amount of the carbon credits to the Japanese side for achieving Japan’s GHG emissions reduction targets.

The webinar aims to disseminate information about JCM progress, JCM Implementation in Thailand, how to get financial support under JCM, successful story of JCM model projects and relevant issues.  Speakers and participants from public and private sectors of Japan and Thailand joined the meeting via online platform which not only prevented risk of spreading the coronavirus but also reduced greenhouse gas emissions from transportation, especially for Japanese participants and speakers from Japan which needed to fly from Japan to Thailand.  The number of registration and attendees are 399 and 285*, respectively.

*Some organizations joined the webinar as one attendee but having more than one participant.
